y Once again, Jacob deGrom has been named NL Rookie of the Month for September!
"Major League Baseball named righthanded pitcher Jacob deGrom the National League Rookie of the Month for September. It was deGrom’s second NL Rookie of the Month award. He also captured the honor in July. The last pitcher to win the AL or NL Rookie of the Month twice was the Marlins’ Jose Fernandez in 2013.
deGrom, 26, went 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA (five earned runs/27.0 innings) in four September starts, striking out 38 and walking six. He is only the second Mets player to earn Rookie of the Month honors since the Award was established in 2003. Justin Turner won in May of 2011.
deGrom tied the modern-era major league record with eight consecutive strikeouts to begin a game on September 15 vs. Miami. He tied Houston’s Jim Deshaies. The Mets righty finished with a career-best 13 strikeouts that night.
deGrom ranked fourth in the NL among all pitchers with 38 strikeouts in the final month, including 23 over his final two starts. He allowed one earned run or fewer in three of his four starts in September. Overall, deGrom earned the Rookie Triple Crown, leading the NL in strikeouts (144), ERA (2.69) and tied for the league lead with nine victories.”

y After covering the Mets on SNY for 8 seasons, today is Kevin Burkhardt’s last day. A sad day for Mets fans indeed. Broadcasts won’t be the same without him. However, it’s not the last of him. Kevin Burkhardt is moving to bigger and better things by covering MLB games and NFL games on FOX Sports!
Best of luck to Kevin Burkhardt, we’re sure he’ll make FOX Sports a MUCH better place! We’ll miss you Kev!

Jacob deGrom struck out 13 batters, including the first 8 batters of the game - September 15, 2014
Crazy how after 13 strikeouts and a couple of missteps in the 7th inning, deGrom is now on the hook for a loss.
The Mets HAVE to score for him again. And soon!
